31 Day Challenge 2015: Reversed Polarities

Sunday 11 January 2015

Cor blimey Ms Crumpet, this was a tough one! I dithered around and put off prepping this one because I just had no idea what I wanted to do... After asking for clarification I thought about pop art but just didn't fancy putting in the work as I had no suitable stamping images. In the end I was watching something or other on TV with a British theme and then suddenly it slapped me in the face - The FLAG, perfecto! LOL. It also hit me that my OPI Fashion Plate mini collection would have the ideal colours for the challenge.

I started with two coats of the red and blue on thumb and pinky and three of the shimmer white on the middle finger. On the index and ring fingers I painted two coats of white for the base. I then stamped the flag pattern in red, overpainting the criss-cross parts in the blue with a striper brush and small detailer brush, and finished with topcoat.

I was just about living with the execution of this mani and then my topcoat shrunk it around every edge and I had to touch it all up grrr! I've since found it happening on every mani so I'm pretty sure the Color Club topcoat someone sold me isn't actually Color Club, I thought it had a tinge to it! Luckily, being the polish hoarder I am, I've got a backup ;)

OPI: Umpires Come Out At Night, Short-Stop, Girls Love Diamonds, Barry M: Matte White, Color Club: Topcoat, MoYou London Tourist 05, Small Striper & Detailer Brushes

For some weird reason as I wrote 'umpires come out at night', I got a sudden flashback to reading 'Goosebumps' books as a kid! Do you remember those?? I loved them!... And a bit later Point Horror too! I wonder if I can find some on Ebay...
